Description

All the encouragement and nice comments I got on the other drawing I uploaded a week ago gave me loads of inspiration. I immediately picked up my pencils again and started this drawing, and have been working on it an hour or so a day since then. Thank you people for giving me the inspiration to do this one!

A few words about the drawing too: She’s supposed to look powerful and determined. As if she has a huge responsibility. The hedgehog is her close friend and support. It helps her do what she has to when she trembles. Like her it’s hard on the outside, and must stay so to survive, but together they can let go of their hard shields. To each other they can show their soft and sensitive insides.

The detail on the cloths is beautiful and the hedgehog is very cute. :)
I think there should be more hair on the top of her head though. It looks a bit like the top of her head is flat rather than having a rounded skull.

Nice concept. It's Cameron Diaz? The hedgehog-idea is great, but it looks like it's dead. (because of the pose and eyes) The neckless could use a better lighting and shape so it doesn't make the neck look so flat. Good technique on everything else. (thumbup)

Fantastic piece, although I agree with Artoonator about the hedgehog. It does seem a bit stiff. But overall, this is beautiful, and I'm glad to see new art from you again so soon. :)

Artoonator > I think this is Claire Forlani.

Thank you all!

Elite patrix77: I see what you mean about the eyelashes, I could have made them a bit more visible. I'll fix that.

Elite, GFXartist sponsor ARTOONATOR: Does the hedgehog really look dead? The pose was supposed to be relaxed, as if it had full trust in her, but maybe it got too relaxed then. Too bad. Maybe I can do something about the eyes.

Cameron Diaz, Claire Forlani, Nathalie Portman... Keep guessing people! Actually I think Cameron Diaz was the best guess so far, when I saw it and took a second look at the drawing I could really see the resemblance.

Yeah, I'm with Artoonator, it sure does look a lot like Cameron Diaz. From the shape of her eyebrows to her lips, hairline and her eyes. Only thing would be the nose/chin are different.

Then again Angelina Jolie also has a very similar facial structure

meloves hedgehogs
and it does look dead because of the lack of shine in its eyes

Great Job! You have a wonderfull attention to detail. I really like the texture in the shading...it "feels" nice to my eyes.

Cameron Diaz? look again at the mouth. Angelina Jolie gets my vote

Anyways, it's a good piece, but it seems like the nose is a bit too long, and her right eye is more open than her left, which does happen in life, but is unusual enough that you might want to raise the lower lid slightly, which would lessen the wierd cockeye'd look.

Excellent work overall, however!

I thought is Natalie Portman.. :)
You could add may be some light points to the eyes of hedgehog...

I made a few small changes to the drawing from your comments. I added some light points to the hedgehogs’ eyes and drew some more visible eyelashes on the right eye.

And maybe I should tell you now. It’s neither referenced form Cameron Diaz, Claire Forlani, Nathalie Portman or Angelina Jolie but based on a fashion model I found in a magazine. I changed or adjusted most of the features and the shape of the face to fit my idea of how it should look though.

Try adding sharper light in those eyes, and in the same place the models eyes catch light. Add a darker pupil directed at the viewer, and the problem will probably be resolved.

The hand is really good and the hair has amazing texture. I really liket he contrast here and the clothes are really well done. You could still get more contrast in, but it works. It really draws your eye to the hair, which is the most lifelike part of the drawing. It's a little messy though and the expression resembles a manakin. The background is also a little boring, maybe darkening the shadow and giving it a different texture (smoother, rougher) would make it look less like you just "filled it in".

The porcupine would make my head explode if i had to draw it...
